"SIMPLE!! You can’t be the science queen what???"
That was one of the answers I received when I asked the rag dancers what I should pen down for my reason to be science king. I was running really late for this assignment, and being in rag dance didn’t really help much with this deadline.
From rushing home on nights off while I was in NS so that I could better prepare for my discretionary interview for appeal into Science to becoming a rag dancer and subsequently a pageant contestant, I’ve come a long, long way for a freshman.
Scamp gave me a glimpse of what Science was like; rag showed me the whole deal. I’ve come to realize that Science is a faculty that didn’t just comprise of people who work hard in their studies, but also dedicated and motivated people who will do their best for the faculty. Just listening to cheers that Science gives during Rag Day is symbol that this is not just a faculty, but a team constantly moving towards the same goal. To me, a Science King is a representation of the faculty and her undying team spirit, and getting this responsibility is a privilege for me. A privilege, but not an opportunity to let go of, because representing the best is what I really want.
I feel my belief in teamwork will help me to fully represent what Science is about. I want to showcase change. I have worked hard to get where I am, and winning this will allow people with weight problems know that as long as they take a step forward to embrace change, they are able to step up on stage with confidence. The crown will be a tribute to all my friends, because I am what I am today because of them. They are the team that molded me.
Even if I’m not crowned Science King, the process that we had all gone through has given me a change to make a few good friends that I know I will treasure a lot.
Ultimately, at the end of the day, there’s really no place like Science.
